Lamprell and L&T consortium awarded $1.8bn ADNOC Offshore contract

A consortium of Lamprell and Larsen & Toubro has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract valued at over $1.8 billion by ADNOC Offshore. The contract covers work on the Umm Shaif Gas Cap project in the United Arab Emirates, with Lamprell delivering the EPCI scope for the subsea pipeline, according to a statement from Lamprell. The overall project value is $6.2 billion.

Contract scope and consortium structure#

Larsen & Toubro serves as the lead partner in the consortium arrangement. The project scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of offshore facilities, in addition to upgrading existing facilities. Lamprell's portion of the work focuses on the subsea pipeline EPCI scope. The contract was secured in a month when L&T announced the consortium arrangement for the Umm Shaif Gas Cap project. Ian Prescott, CEO of Lamprell, stated that the company has operated in the UAE for 50 years and that securing a project of this scale is meaningful as the company celebrates its jubilee year.

Additional contractors on the project#

ADNOC Offshore previously awarded a contract valued at over $1 billion to McDermott for work on the same project. McDermott and its Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan consortium will provide the full EPCI scope for a new surface pressure-boosting facility. The scope includes construction and installation of a jacket and topside, as well as associated brownfield modifications. The McDermott contract was awarded before the Lamprell and L&T consortium contract was announced.

Project capacity and operational details#

The new facilities are designed to produce approximately 600 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and around 50,000 barrels per day of condensate. The facilities will add to ADNOC's offshore production and processing capacity. The project includes development of multiple offshore facilities and upgrades to existing infrastructure at the Umm Shaif field. Lamprell has facilities and a workforce in the region where the project will be executed.
